The Creation
What do you get when you have a Rasberry Pi 3, A Low-End Laptop and little programming knowledge? You splurge out on Minecraft Realms. I wanted to make a server but my Rasberry Pi is One Version too outdated to run a server and my laptop would probably spontaneously combust if I even tried to run a server on it.
The Design
Well, I wanted to go for some kind of circus/carnival theme, so on the day before the promised opening I built a bunch of tents, made some snazzy stuff to go inside and called it a day.
At least for that day.
I kept thinking that people would be bored in a realm where they could only walk around and view/interact with stuff. I presumed they would certainly want to build here. So I changed my plans from a "Look at all my beautiful builds" realm to a creative realm. But at this point, the rules were pretty strict. You can only build in a 21x21 plot that you own.
I added statues of everyone because Lockdown + Drama = Literally No Work, all starting confusion as to why I was rendering everyone's skins. Minor changes are updated on the statues, but people like George (who has just changed their skin drastically), I'm not changing that (unless he wants to do it himself). I, of course, also said anyone is free to fix any innaccuracies with their statues. Bailey's statue was a pain to make because the skin renderer was playing up and only showed his prank female skin. I had to improvise to build his normal skin. Luckily he fixed it as soon as he went on.
Opening Day
The PvP tent was fun for a while, but a dark, dingy tent where you can kill people kind of got old quickly. Across the way was the Creative Tent, which I dubbed "Knockoff Hypixel Build Battle".
In what is Orange Square today, I built a massive lake which had boats and a minecart track which ran into a wall (which to my surprise didn't bring any questions).
There was the racetrack too, which back then was a bland, fast moving minecart with one hill. There was also a big orange wool wall which I drilled into everyone's heads NOT TO ENTER. They didn't. There was also the Pukinator, which was minecarts in circles that made your screen go funny if you rotated your camera in a certain way.
The realm was going to receive some changes soon. In fact, it would be the day after I opened it that changes took place.
